Hey! So happy to see you here :) "What You Are" is a song that speaks to acknowledging and confronting the parts of ourselves that hold us back from embodying who we truly are.
It's a song I wrote with the intention of sharing with as many people as possible in the hopes that it could help illuminate the shadow parts of ourselves that are sometimes hard to face on our own.
With that being said, the money you invest in "What You Are" will go to promoting the song through ads to maximize its reach. You'll likely see these advertisements in the form of promotional videos on TikTok and Instagram or promotional images on Instagram.
Once enough streaming revenue has been garnered through these advertisements to the point at which we begin to see a profit, I plan on starting the production of the "What You Are" music video! This music video would also serve as additional promo and thus have the effect of increasing streaming revenue; alongside providing the visual aesthetics for "What You Are" that are intended for consumer enjoyment. Can't wait to see where this journey takes us! xo
About the music
At some point in life, we all take a second to hit pause and rewind through the years to figure out how we ended up where we are in the present moment. Some of us are well beyond this momentous pause, while others of us are still making our way toward it.
For me, it was during my freshman spring of college when I realized my life was just not where I wanted it to be. I didn't have people around me who I felt like I genuinely connected with, I was flunking classes, routinely getting sick, and was being suffocated by some of my deepest, darkest fears made manifest. I was completely and utterly in the dark. I lost sight of the aspirations and goals that used to light the way and found myself having no choice other than to stumble through the darkness to make it through. And as scary as this time was for me, it was only through making my way through this metaphorical darkness that I was finally able to meet these shadow parts of myself and face them.
"What You Are" takes place about 22 months into this journey. It recounts the repeated revelations of discovering how I was the one holding myself back from the friendships, vitality and adventure I was yearning to experience at the time. Alongside realizations that I wasn't just a victim of life's circumstances, as much as I wanted to believe I was.
And by confronting my own inner turmoil that had been buried deep down, I was in turn opening myself up to what I really wanted to experience.
While I'm still very much on this journey toward finding my truth and embodying my most authentic self, "What You Are" is my way of sharing the beginning of my journey, thus hopefully inspiring you to take your first steps as well. Sometimes Life/the Universe shuts out all of the lights so you can find where the light really resides; and you're all the better for it.
