When I get asked where my love for music comes from, I never really know what to answer because for me, music is a feeling, a subjective emotion that I cannot describe.
Growing up, I have always been described as the nice and happy guy. The guy who lives in a 'Hakuna Matata' world. When in reality, I’m a lot more deep and fragile than the perception of others. Although I enjoy the responsibility that this comes with, it pushes me to hide my weaknesses and appear strong all the time. Creating music helps me acknowledge, explore and accept these emotions. Taking these feelings and transcending them from my heart to a body of work is my form of therapy.
So when you ask why do you care about music. I would tell you that I care about music because it saved my life. I don’t mean saved my life from a terrible event but saved me consistently everyday. When I feel close to giving up, music has always had the power to move me and make me remember.
I want to create music for people like me. The people who find it hard to express themselves, to understand who they are, how they feel or what they’re going through.
My story is shared throughout so many individuals and I was given a talent to tell my story and inspire those that can relate.
Throughout the years, the people that have been listening to my music never stopped even if I did at some point. Older and wiser, I understand what my vocation is and is ready to fully commit. The success of my first album, after 4 years of absence from the music scene, showed me how engaged and eager my listeners are.
This release is part of a project that I have been preparing since the first week after my first album was released. I wanted to go deeper and immerse my listeners into my world by giving them a full documentary around the whole project that we want to push forward to platforms like VICE. We would also want to be able to give them a full vision with music videos and offer a live performance video to show my vocals and stage presence which will attract concert opportunities.
Embark on the journey of my project 'Nightzone Express' with the first song NZE. Welcome!
On this track, I am touching 3 fundamental emotions. All feelings are personal and explored for people to understand the message I’m transmitting through the journey we're about to take.
Each Layer has been written at a moment where I was feeling lost and misunderstood in my relationship.
This project, kickstarted by this song, takes you through my trials and tribulations being a man in a relationship in 2022, constantly being emotionally tested, the journey to find the light on the other side (from mine and other diverse perspectives).
With this song and throughout the whole project, I've tried to give my personal perspective on common emotions and situations everyone goes through while keeping a neutral aspect to give the ability to the listeners to come to their own conclusion, regarding their own perspective on the deeper meaning of the song.
To finish, this song is better served with the whole project, no shuffles to enjoy the journey. Again, welcome aboard!
Hey! My name is Jokshan, friendly face from London! Surprised you don’t know me ?!
Throughout the fun times, great laughs and deep lows, music has always been my closest companion. With the wisdom I’ve gained, I am now ready to take on my journey to the fullest just like some of my biggest inspirations such as JCole, Lauren Hill, Usher or Jahcure.
You might not be able to label me any specific genre but don’t worry, I’ve managed to carve up my own lane. R&G is what I do. A blend of all the songs stuck in my head since I can even remember.
You can get a glimpse of it on my latest album, just like 74K people also did and keep up with my journey to explore it more.
