Sunlight was literally inspired by the sun. We wanted to create something that felt like a warm breeze on your skin, like stepping outside on a warm summer night. We wanted it to be something rich and lighthearted that was reminiscent of having fun in the sun with your friends. If nothing else, lockdown has made me miss those moments. It’s made me want to get outside more than ever. When you’re not allowed to leave your house for a prolonged period of time, every time you do feels like a brand new memory. You enjoy that feeling of sun on your skin or that day with your friends that little bit more because you don’t know when it’ll next happen. We wanted to fully encapsulate that energy in this track: to make you hold onto every moment you get and make it last. We wanted Sunlight to be a song to make memories to so we really hope you can do that to this track when this is all over.

Surfhouse are an English-Swiss duo set on revitalising the summer house music scene, despite having never met. A mutual passion to produce beach-ready beats sought to inspire the pair’s 2015 single ‘Feel The Sun’, which drew inspiration from an array of genres - a centrepiece of Surfhouse’s production style. Saxophonist, Alex Schneider, hails from Switzerland and showcases an impressive musical history from a 12-year spell of classical saxophone performance to representing the Swiss Army Central Band to the present day. Comparatively, UK-based producer James Ash first turned to music production following a fulfilling background as a drummer and questionable DJ. Following wins in their individual music careers, Ash and Schneider teamed up to nurture their wisdom inside a remix of John Denver’s classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads” which has since racked umillion views over 2,9 on YouTube. This out-of-the-box debut excitingly depicts a window of opportunity for Surfhouse to breathe life into an emerging Summer House market.
